Built for people who train with purpose

Sterling Group opened in 2018 with a clear premise: the best gym in New York is one where the members make each other better. We are not a rack-and-mirror warehouse. We run a tightly programmed floor — strength, conditioning, and mobility — with coaches who track your progress session to session and a community that holds you to the standard you set for yourself. The space spans 8,400 square feet of turf, platforms, and rigs in the heart of Midtown, designed for serious training without the noise of an overbuilt megagym.

Four reasons the community keeps coming back

Coaches who know your name

Every Sterling Group coach carries a full view of your training history. They know where you plateaued last quarter, what your mobility limitations are, and how hard to push you on a Thursday morning. This is not floor supervision — it is applied coaching, session after session.

Programming you can follow across months

Our strength and conditioning calendar runs in 8-week blocks with deliberate loading progressions, deload weeks built in, and enough variation to keep the floor interesting. Members track lifts, benchmark times, and body composition markers inside a shared dashboard so progress stays visible.

Early access, late stays

Doors open at 5:30 AM Monday through Friday, giving early-morning members a full hour before the main rush. Fridays run until 9 PM and weekends maintain coached hours throughout — no ghost-town afternoons, no unsupervised floor.

Midtown location, no excuses

247 West 38th Street sits two blocks from Penn Station and Port Authority, on direct subway lines from Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx. Showing up on the way to work or on the way home is a five-minute detour, not a commute.

“I have trained at six different gyms across Manhattan over twelve years. Sterling Group is the first place where a coach noticed I was compensating on my left hip before I even felt the problem. That kind of attention is worth the membership fee on its own.”
